The following communication has been sent to all BSP and CASS participants in the markets where Air Belin participates.
Despite the preliminary insolvency proceedings, Air Berlin PLC & Co. Luftverkehrs KG (“airberlin”) has confirmed that they will continue regular scheduled operations, at a significantly reduced volume, until their planned sale transaction closes; which is foreseen to be close to year end.
With a goal of achieving an orderly wind-down of airberlin’s participation in IATA’s BSP and CASS settlement systems, IATA has therefore agreed to the following phase out plan:
§ Group 1: BSPs Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Greece and Spain: airberlin's participation will continue and reviewed on an ongoing basis.
§ Group 2: BSPs Sweden, France, Italy, Netherlands. airberlin’s withdrawal from these markets will be triggered on or before 30 November 2017(*)
§ Group 3: All other BSPs. airberlin’s withdrawal from these markets will be triggered on or before 31 October 2017 (*)
§ Group 4: CASSes: airberlin’s withdrawal from all CASS markets will be triggered on or before 30 October 2017 (*)
(*) Note: IATA will send specific communiques announcing each market withdrawal date.
For those BSP markets in which airberlin will withdraw from, IATA will instruct agents to keep settling any outstanding billing with IATA. Amounts submitted prior to the withdrawal date will continue to be settled in the ordinary course as per previous communications. This information will also be communicated separately on a market-by-market basis at the time of withdrawal from each BSP.
